So, I’m off to a great start with my reading goals. For the month of January, I completed ten audiobooks and graphic novels. I am trying to broaden the types of books that I’m reading this year, too. I love me a good mystery/thriller, but there are so many other genres. I feel like I’m doing a disservice to my brain by only reading one. On my to be read list, I have included some poetry and science fiction books. I’m always looking for good books, so suggestions are welcomed.

Without further ado, here is January’s list

1. Doctor Doom: Mother Morgan Comes to Me #2 – Christopher Cantwell, Salvador Larroca – Graphic Novel

These are the books that I read from October until December. There weren’t that many books at the end of the year that I completed. And I did not make my goal of 100 books read. I started many books that I was unable to finish and may come back to at a later date, but it wasn’t the right fit for now. I have also been doing a whole lot of research, so I’ve been reading, but not finishing the complete book.

For 2024, my reading goals are the same 100 books. But I will attempt to actually read more books as opposed to audiobooks. I also want to read different genres this year, maybe some science fiction and poetry books. If anyone has suggestions for any good science fiction or poetry books, please share in the comment suggestions below.

Since the last time I posted, I have read or listened to 19 books. I have started over 25 books, but if I have to fight to stay interested or if reading a book feels like a chore, I will no longer force myself to finish. There are way too many books for me to not enjoy what I’m reading. I also enjoy reading certain books over again, like I have with the book Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. There are certain gems or lessons that I may need to remember. Anyways, here’s a list of my books.

1. The Rising Tides by Ann Cleeves (audio)

2. She Eats The Night (Night Eaters) by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda (graphic novel)

3. Imagine Wanting Only This by Kristen Radtke (graphic novel)

4. A Study in Emerald – Neil Gaiman (graphic novel)

6. Wild at Home – Hilton Carter (book)

7. Big Magic – Elizabeth Gilbert (audio)

8. A Heart Full of Headstones – Ian Rankin (audio)

9. The Madness of Crowds – Louise Penny (audio)

10. Sister Eve, Private Eye – Lynne Hinton (audio)

9. Pop Goes the Weasel- James Patterson ( audio)

I really enjoyed Border Crossings because it reminded me of a mix between an art journal and a travel guide. The drawings were a wonderful visual addition to the descriptive writing. I am definitely on the look out for more books like this.

I’ve read 9 books for the month of March. One book was a revisit of a book from my junior high school days, Go Ask Alice. Another was a graphic novel, which I seem to be reading more of these days. The graphic novel happens to be by one of my favorite writers, Jim Butcher. The list is as follows:

1. Go Ask Alice by Anonymous (audiobook)

2. River Woman, River Demon by Jennifer Givhan (audiobook)

3. American God’s by Neil Gaiman (audiobook)

4. Riverman by Ben McGrath (audiobook)

5. Red Bones by Ann Cleeves (audiobook)

6. The Dresden Files: Welcome to the Jungle by Jim Butcher (graphic novel)

7. The Iceman by Anthony Bruno (audiobook)

8. The Bone Code by Kathy Reichs (audiobook)

9. Bones Never Lie by Kathy Reichs (audiobook)

I used to be addicted to Kathy Reichs books when they were first published, but when the show Bones came out, I cast them aside for television. I’m back and loving them once again. The Book River Woman, River Demon, was a very interesting book. It was the March book club book from the New York public library. It’s not my normal type of book, but I enjoyed it thoroughly.
