I have been crocheting since I was a child. My Nana taught me when I was about 5 or 6, and I made blankets for years. I still have some of the ones my Nana made me, plus my very first, extremely colorful blankets.

I stopped crocheting when I was about 15 years old. I got other hobbies, and slowly lost interest in crocheting. Fast forward to about 10 years ago. I had just quit smoking after a 20+ year habit and needed something to do with my hands. I found my way back to the hook, and my passion grew from there.

I have made many items, and have even learnt to knit and weave. I made a few small designs, and have written plenty of patterns or almost patterns but never really pursued it. Until now. I have many ideas in my head and I’m ready to try them out. First design is coming soon. I have so many more to come so stay tuned.

Here’s the list for February. This month I read a few graphic novels and actually finished two actual books. The rest were audiobooks. I have an addiction to listening to audiobooks,. They remind me of my childhood when my mom would read to me. I also used to love story time at the library. Audiobooks takes me back to those times. I also love the fact that I can take the story anywhere I go.

1. Invincible : Eight is Enough – Robert Kirkman & Corey Walker. (graphic novel)

2. Invincible: Perfect Stranger (same as above)

3. The String Diaries – Stephen Llyod Jones (audiobook)

4. The Interior Silence – Sarah Sands (audiobook)

5. Shook One – Charlamagne Tha God (audiobook)

6. Create Dangerously – Edwidge Danticat (book)

7. Getting to Happy – Terry McMillan (audiobook)

8. Humans of New York – Brandon Stanton (book)

I have been trying to broaden my reading interest. I usually only read crime or mysteries. So this year I am going for books like biographies, art books, and fiction outside of crime novels. I also realize that I am now a much slower reader. It takes me way longer to finish an actual book. I know it’s because I have to sit still, hold the book and read. That takes away from my creating, which I can easily do with audiobooks. I am trying to dedicate at least 30 minutes a day to actually sitting down and reading. It hasn’t taken on the form of a habit yet. But I will keep trying.

President’s Day is today, so most people were able to enjoy a 3 day weekend.  I was one of those people.  I spent Sunday and Monday reading, crafting, packing orders and resting.  My usual weekend routine.  But on Saturday I participated in a pop up shop.  I haven’t done one since December so it was time to jump back in.

This pop up was at a new to me location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn called New Women Spaces.  It’s a really cool space that is a community organizing space. The atmosphere was really nice. There were at least 10 vendors all selling wonderful products. There was even live entertainment and tarot readings.

The live entertainment was really good.
Views from the drive.

Overall it was a successful event. My hair and body oils and my incense were the top sellers of the day. And I met a lot of cool people. I’m glad I decided to get back out in the vending world.
